How to Change the Default Google Account on PC & Phone
By Husain ParvezNovember 9, 2020
iMessage is one of the most useful features of iOS that allows users to share messages, videos, photos, and other media with their friends and families instantly and easily without any hassle. It has been receiving lots of improvements and new features over the years which has allowed it to compete strongly with third-party messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram.
iOS 13 has brought several changes to the iPhone ecosystem. One of them is the ability to add your name and your photograph to your iMessage account. It’s interesting that Apple is taking this direction, foraying into what seems to be the realm of social media rather than pure phone messaging. What ulterior motive that may serve, we’re not sure – all we know is, it’s a function that thousands of people have been craving for a long time. Let’s find out how it’s done.
Step 1: The first step in the process is to open up your Settings app. By default, you’ll notice that you don’t have a profile picture for iMessage or for your Apple account. Since this is a brand new feature, you’ll need to add one now – only people who download iOS 13 will gain access to this feature.
Step 2: Once you’re in the settings app, click on your name (on top of all of the settings sections). It’s a section that’s labeled Apple ID, iCloud, iTunes & App Store.
Step 3: After you tap the section, you’ll be taken to the Apple ID dedicated Settings page. This is where you’ll be able to edit the public information that’s linked to your iMessage account, including your name and your profile picture. To edit your name, click on the section option labeled Name, Phone Numbers, Email. From this section, we’ll be able to change our name in iMessage.
Step 4: Here, you can edit various pieces of information linked to your Apple account, including your name, email, and date of birth. You can also enable or disable Apple announcements.
Simply tap your name (which is the dialog on the top of the screen) to edit it. You’ll be taken to a page where you can enter a custom first and last name. After you exit the menu, your new first and last name will be saved and linked to your Apple account. The next time you message someone using iMessage, that’s the name that will appear as (unless they have saved your number/email in their contacts under a different name already).
Step 1: The next thing we’re going to want to do is to change our profile picture. Once you’ve popped out of the name-changing menu and you’re back to the “Apple ID” page, all you have to do is tap the “Edit” button under your existing profile picture. This will bring up three options: “take photo”, “choose photo” and “browse…”. These are the standard options for picking a photograph, and the image you choose will become your profile picture for iMessage. It’s that simple!
That’s all it takes to update your name and profile picture on iMessage. It’s simple, easy and intuitive – exactly the way Apple wants it to be.
